Empower Yourself with Self-Defense: Join The Malikah Center

Do you ever worry about how you’d react if you were attacked, whether in public or alone at night? If the thought of defending yourself feels daunting, The Malikah Center is here to empower you.

As you might remember from our previous post, self-defense is a cornerstone of The Malikah Center’s programs, specifically designed to equip women with the skills and confidence to protect themselves.

The Malikah Center was founded by Rana Abdelhamid, who, at just 15, was attacked from behind and had her hijab violently pulled off. This traumatic experience fueled her mission to empower her community, especially young Muslim women, with the knowledge and tools to respond if faced with similar aggression.

While Rana’s personal experience inspired her to support the Muslim community, The Malikah Center’s self-defense classes are open to women of all faiths. We encourage you to bring your friends and family and learn valuable techniques that could help you in a critical moment.

This was my second self-defense class this year, and once again, they covered various ways to handle different situations. Towards the end, we even got to practice some moves with other participants. Taking this course has not only highlighted the importance of staying vigilant but also introduced me to some wonderful women of all ages. It’s a great opportunity to learn valuable skills and make new friends along the way!

Don’t forget if your looking to earn some rewards Malikah center is always looking for volunteers to help out future events. Click on the link below and see how you can volunteer or even be a member.
